The National Railway Museum at Shildon
Saturday 30th April to Monday 2nd May, 2016
Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon will be delighted to introduce its new guest steam locomotive at the Spring Steam Weekend event from Saturday April 30 to Monday May 2.
Peckett No. 2012 ‘Teddy’ – one of the smallest standard gauge steam locomotives ever built – will be used on the museum’s steam service until early August, and the Spring Steam Weekend will be the first chance for visitors to see the locomotive in action!
Visitor favourite Furness Railway No. 20 – the oldest standard gauge locomotive still working in the UK – will also be in steam for the event. Passenger steam train rides will be available – a small charge applies.
Plus heritage vehicles from the National Collection will be on outdoor display throughout the weekend – including SR No. 34051 Winston Churchill.
What’s more, there will be a range of trade stands to browse – with railway and modelling traders in attendance from Saturday April 30 to Monday May 2, and a great range of craft, gift and collectables stalls available on Sunday May 1 and Monday May 2.
Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is open daily from 10am to 5pm, and parking and admission are free of charge. For more information, please call 01388 777999.
