On Saturday 5th April 30 friends and family from Life Church  were involved in  an event sponsored by Rock Antics in the Leisure Centre.  At Life Church we assume everyone opts into things like this unless they say otherwise.
It really is hands on deck and everyone does something to make a difference to those who need help in our community. £1,500 was raised by the event and will be used by “Helping Hands” to source £15,000 worth of aid!
Alwyn White said: “It was a fantastic team challenge, people cheered others on whilst they climbed the equivalent to Ben Nevis!  An array of cakes and drinks were donated and sold and every person got involved in one way or another – it certainly was a dream team.
One astonishing thing was that some people conquered their fear of heights so they could do something to tackle poverty in our town.
The church has set a target to support 2500 people this year and with this kind of effort are sure to achieve it! Please contact Linzi Nichols 07936431262 if you want to help tackle poverty in our area with sponsorship.
If you are in difficulty, “Helping Hands”  now offer a service where people can text their details – name, address, telephone number, D.O.B and reasons they need help.
After receiving the text there will be a friendly call back to explain how you can get help. Alternatively just phone the Helping Hands team 07936 431262, or e-mail lifeline.action@googlemail.com
