Walworth School recently successfully defended its Durham, Darlington and Cleveland Special schools cross country championship. The Key Stage two boys` team performed exceptionally well in the event staged at Preston Park, Stockton.

Walworth boys filled the first three places in the race and the team were strongly backed up by other boys finishing 7th and 22nd. About 45 boys were in the event, the children running a distance of one mile over a very undulating course.

Head Teacher, Peter Wallbanks, said the children had really practiced hard up to the event. Cross county is not easy and the children were well rewarded with the first three positions in the race. The whole team had performed really well on the day supporting each other and deserve great credit for their attitude and endurance.
