Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is delighted to be hosting “Shildon Studies”, an exhibition of railway art by John Wigston, on display in the museum’s Collection Building from Tuesday August 23 to Sunday October 2nd, 2016. Born in Redhill, Surrey in 1939, John has always been fascinated by transport, especially railways. It was natural therefore for transport to be the earliest subject of his other hobby, painting. After receiving encouragement for his painting from his family, he attended evening classes at Hartlepool College, and went on to have his first one-man exhibition at the Gray Art Gallery, Hartlepool, in 1970.
