A monthly indoor market is launching in Shildon’s Civic Hall. The first market will be held on Tuesday 15 August from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The new indoor market has proven popular with independent traders, meaning that visitors will be able to choose from a wide variety of goods. Products on sale in August will include cupcakes, sweets, cheeses, bath bombs and soaps, candles, costume jewellery, books, collectables, gifts, carpets, flowers and products for babies. Organisers are inviting the community to support the market. A spokesperson said, “We’re really happy to have attracted a number of really good traders and we think that we can offer the people of Shildon a great market experience. We hope that people will support our local traders and that we can build a rich and sustainable monthly event for the town.
“Come along to browse the goods, shop, meet your friends, and have a cuppa or maybe a bite to eat. Best of all, you can enjoy it whatever the weather!” The August Indoor Market can currently accommodate a limited number of additional traders on a first come, first serve basis. The cover fee is £15 for two table tops for businesses and £10 for one table top for charities. Organisers are considering ways in which funds raised by monthly markets can sustain the market’s future and also benefit local residents.
