There was no game for Newton Aycliffe FC last week, this time through scheduling, although very few Ebac Northern League games were played due to the snow.

Despite this Aycliffe did manage to move up a place to 18th in Division One. However, this was due to Guisborough’s misfortune of being deducted three points for playing an ineligible player.

This week sew Aycliffe travel to third placed North Shields on Wednesday 24 January to play a game which has fallen foul of the weather twice so far.

In a change to the fixture list Aycliffe will now play away at Team Northumbria on Saturday 27 January. We were due to play the university team in December, another weather casualty. The game was then rearranged for Monday 5th February but with both teams being available the league has taken the opportunity to move the game to a Saturday.

Aycliffe’s next home game is Saturday 3rd February when we welcome local rivals Shildon to Moore Lane. The Railwaymen are 4th in the League but suffered a surprise defeat to Jarrow Roofing in their last match.

Hopefully Newtonians will turn out in force for the first game of 2018 to support our towns team at Moore Lane. As ever the Sports Club bar will be open from 12 while the ground “Bait Cabin” opens at 1:30pm. Kick off is 3pm – Admission £6 adults, £4 concessions, £2 under 16s while accompanied under 12s are admitted free.
