Four swimmers from Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club qualified for the Swim England North East Regional (NER) Long Course Championships held over three weekends during May.

The Championships bring together the best swimmers from Northumberland, Durham and North, South, East and West Yorkshire. Split into two competitions, the Open Championships open to all ages held at Ponds Forge Sheffield, and the Age Group Championships for younger swimmers in 14, 13 and 12 year-old categories at the John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds.

At the open championships James Hodgson set a new personal best time in the 50m freestyle event. Niall Coulthard took part in the 100, 200 and 400m freestyle and also the 200m individual medley events. Niall qualified for finals in the 200m and 400m freestyle events taking a silver medal over 400m and achieving 4th place in the 200m.

At the age group championships, Mateusz Wilczynski swam in the 50m butterfly event, 14 years category, and Emma Price, swimming in the 12 years category despite starting the competition at 10 years old, took part in the 50, 100, 200 and 400m freestyle events and also 200m backstroke and 400m individual medley races. Emma qualified for finals in 200m freestyle and 400m individual medley events setting personal best times in both including a 9-seconds improvement in the medley.
