Ten swimmers from Sedgefield 75 made the journey to Leeds last weekend to compete in the Summer Madness Gala, superbly hosted by Richmond Dales ASC.

This was the final gala of the season for Sedgefield and medals and personal best times were hard fought for in the 50 metre pool, against some much bigger clubs, such as Altrincham, Sunderland, York City and Harrogate.

Competing for Sedgefield were Katelyn Craig, Tom Curran, Chloe Harding, James Hodgson, Zoe Hodgson, Charlotte Lee, Kathryn Lee, Charlie McEwan, Emma Price and Matthew Wimbury.

They took part in 49 individual swims and brought home 16 personal best times and 15 medals.

Tom Curran took Gold in the 100 free, Silver in the 100 back and was awarded medals for 4th place 200 free and 5th place 50 free, 50 back and 50 fly. Charlie McEwan took Bronze in the 100 back and was awarded medals for 4th place 50 back and 50 fly, 5th place 50 free and 100 free.

Emma Price took Gold in the 200 free and 100 back, Silver in the 100 breast and 200 IM.

At the end of the day Zoe, Chloe, Kathryn, Katelyn, Tom, Charlie, Matthew and James competed in an 8 x 50m freestyle relay. This was an absolute highlight of the gala, where Sedgefield really worked hard together as a team, some swimming faster than they’d swam their own individual 50m swims! They placed 4th out of 10 with an incredible time of 4 minutes 24 seconds.

21 year old Matthew Bradley took part in the Northumberland and Durham SA Masters Competition, which is for swimmers over 18. Matthew had an amazing weekend bringing home medals for every single event he competed in!

He took Gold in the 50 back, 50 free, 50 breast, 100 IM, 100 Free, 100 back, 200 free and Silver in the 50 Fly – Fantastic results.

Well done to all Sedgefield 75 swimmers.
