Science week at Stephenson Way Academy took pupils to infinity and beyond as they took a leap into space exploration. Local scientist, Dr (Re)search led children across the school through a range of experiments that encouraged scientific discussion and developed pupils’ language in relation to science.

While younger pupils built rockets and discovered how forces helped with space travel, older learners were encouraged to investigate chemical reactions to uncover a winning formula to fuel a rocket. All groups had great fun testing their creations and were astounded at just how far their rockets could travel. One young scientist told us, “It was so cool, we could see the chemicals fizzing and our team were so excited waiting for our rocket to blast off!”

We’d like to thank Dr (Re)search for the time she spent in our school helping us work towards the coveted Space Education Quality Mark.
