During the school holidays the children from Woodham Burn Out of School Club visited Preston Park and Preston Hall Museum.
The rain held off for us and we headed straight to the park, we had lots of compliments about our new high visibility jackets that were recently purchased to help safeguard the children during outings. We then went for a short walk around the grounds followed by an early lunch. The staff at Preston Park kindly provided us with a wooden cabin to have our lunch in, keeping us warm and dry.
After lunch the children were eager to explore the museum, the children particularly enjoyed the interactive games and information screens, looking at the old toy memorabilia, old appliances such as hoovers, washing machines, old bikes etc, and the dressing up clothes around the museum, this sparked lots of discussion.
Outside in the old street the children visited the shops talking to the staff behind the counters and finding out interesting facts about shops in the past. Before leaving the museum the children visited the sweet shop choosing an assortment of old fashioned sweets to take home.
Just as we were about to leave the museum the gardener invited us to plant potato plants, the children were very excited as they could take them home to grow.
We would like to thank J & C Coaches for a safe journey (as always) and the staff at Preston Park who made our visit to the museum informative and enjoyable.
