On 25th July 2016 the local Fire Brigade visited Woodham burn Out of School Club. After introducing themselves to the children, the firemen spoke about their job roles and answered questions from the children. The firemen reminded the children to ask mum and dad to check their smoke alarms when they go home, explaining how important it is to have a functioning alarm in every home. The children were also given leaflets explaining who to contact to have a smoke alarm fitted if they don’t have one in their house. The children were given a tour of the fire engine and the firemen explained to the children about the importance of filling the hose tank and ensuring all of the equipment is working before the fire engine leaves the station. The children’s favourite part of the day was when they each had a turn squirting the water through the hose, attempting to knock down a cone with the force of the water. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and learned lots throughout
the day. For further information on the club please contact Kendra or Maureen on 01325 300080 or email woodhamburn.outofschool@ gmail.com
