Newton Aycliffe Sports Club hosted Escomb Saxon on Sunday 15th October at Moore Lane Park and took all 3 points in another high scoring game. It was the away side that took an early lead with a superb 45 yard strike that flew past goalkeeper Mark Craggs in the 3rd minute to shock the hosts.

The home side had to soak up a lot more early pressure as the Saxons tried to take advantage of their early lead. It took until the 28th minute before the Aycliffe side managed to equalise, Anthony Campbell finding leading marksman Kyle Allen who cooly slotted home. It was Allen who got the Sports Club ahead after a throw in from Jonathan Clegg was scissor kicked in to make it 2-1 on 35 minutes.

The Sports Club were now dominant and another throw in found Campbell who skipped past two players before striking low past the keeper to make it 3-1. An own goal just a few minutes before half time made it 4-1 as the home side looked comfortable going into the break.

The second half started much as the first had finished with Campbell again going on a run down the left, finding Kyle Allen who closed down on the keeper and lobbed the ball home to make in 5-1 on 48 minutes.

Escomb scraped a goal back on the 75th minute after some lazy defending but the four goal lead was quickly restored as Kyle Allen got his fourth of the game to make it 6-2 on 84 minutes.

Sports Club continue their flurry of home games next week against Staindrop.
