The former popular owner of

Dimitri and Sylvia’s Hairdressing Salon in the town centre died in July.

Unfortunately the death was only announced in the Northern Echo and his widow Sylvia now realises a number of Newtonians are still unaware he passed away serenely on his beloved homeland island of Aegina in Greece.

Dimitri was an officer on a Cruise Liner when he met his wife Sylvia. After marriage the couple moved to Newton Aycliffe in 1976 to start the business.

Dimitri always appreciated how much everyone in the town welcomed him and he loved the people of the North East.

“He was a good, honest man with many friends to whom he remained faithful. Dimitri was an adored husband, cherished father and he will remian in our hearts forever” said Sylvia,
