Aycliffe Running Club did well in the Cathedral Relays at Durham last Sunday. On what was a cold damp day, the Aycliffe ladies team, competing in the in Senior and Veteran Women’s Relay finished a commendable 49th in a field of 89 and in the men’s veteran relay, the men’s V/35 team finished 50th out of 94. Individual runners and times are listed below:
Senior Ladies – Michelle Scott, 13:38 – Kara Rose, 14:36 – Penny Johnson, 15:14.
Senior Men – Steve Smith, 13:13 – Justin Hindmarch, 12:48 – Kyle SunderlandAFC, 12:57. 57th out of  61.
Men’s Veteran A team – Andrew Sedgwick, 12:19 – Lee Wren, 12:02 – Dave Blewitt, 13:02.
Men’s Veteran B team – Trevor Needham, 14:40 – Rob Nicholson, 15:20 – James Wilson, 16:38. 92nd out of 94.
On the same day five members of the club took part in the fourth meeting of the Stockton Winter Trail series over 5k.
Peter Milburn was first home for the club in 9th position in 21:16 and 2nd V/55, followed closely by Graham Atkins, 10th in 21:45 and 1st V/50.
Alan Wilks was next over the line, 65th in 25:20 and 1st V/65 and Susan Milburn wasn’t far behind and also first in her age group (F/55) and 77th overall in 25:56.
Finally, Kevin Greenall, slowly getting back to form finished 90th in 26:46.
Also on the same day Martyn Knox ran in the Senior Men’s race at Hartlepool’s cross-country meeting and finished 87th in 43:26.
