The Rotary Club “Mad March Gig” at the Big Club was an outstanding event with almost 300 people in attendance singing and dancing the night away to the fantastic music provided by home grown Show Band “Groovy Street”.

X Factor star Shanaya put in a brilliant guest appearance performing five of her favourite numbers to tumultuous applause.

One of the highlights was the Raffle organised by Rotarians Angela and Bob Stevens which had prizes to the value of £1700 donated by local businesses including a Robot Mower from Husqvarna worth £700.

Aycliffe Bank Santander staff were on hand to sell raffle tickets and worked hard helping the Rotary Club raise cash for the MRI Appeal which they have pledged to match fund.

There was a Tombola run by Rotarians Nora and David Scott and tasty Hot Roast Sandwiches with Roast Potatoes were provided by Walkers Butchers of Simpasturegate.

Everyone enjoyed a fantastic performance by Groovy Street whose singing and dancing was colourful and diverse in its content.

Rotary Club president Tony Robinson wishes to thank The Big Club for hosting the event at no charge and all who bought tickets to support the evening. “It was a great community effort to help the MRI Appeal” said Tony.
