Fantastic Community Effort

The Rotary Club had a very successful charity collection at Christmas touring the streets with Santa and his sleigh as well as in Tesco’s. They also held their annual Community Christmas concert in the Leisure Centre which also provided funds from a raffle and collection.
Needy families in the town will have benefitted from all this effort, by receiving hampers to ensure they had a great time over the period.
Club President Geoff Batchelor said he was overwhelmed by the generosity of Newtonians and thanks all those who supported Rotary not only at this time, but throughout the past year.
“So many people have contributed to our success this year and we are indebted to everyone including Tesco who allow access to their store to collect on a regular basis. They also make up the hampers and make sure we get excellent value for money.
We are most grateful to John and Jennifer Manners and the staff at A-Tech Fabrications who refurbished Santa’s Sleigh and did such a magnificent job. Brian Hoare at Croxdale Fast Fit at Aycliffe was also helpful with technical advice and Gary Quickfall at Samwon was very kind in offering storage space for the sleigh when not in use”.
