Funding from Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) has been used to help alleviate parking problems at Gilpin Road.. Supported by GAMP, the scheme included the creation of a lay-by to help improve off street parking in the area. Funding for the project came from the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of Durham County Councillors Jed Hillary and Sarah Iveson. The project was delivered by Durham County Council Highway Services and was in response to residents’ concerns over increased traffic flow resulting from recent housing developments. Cllr Jed Hillary and Sarah Iveson, said: ‘Although schemes like this can be expensive to deliver, we are hopeful that the improvements will go some way towards helping solve the parking problems in the area’.
