The County Council intend to close to vehicular traffic, from 8.00pm on Thursday 24 August 2017, a 545-metre length of A167 southbound dual carriageway between its junctions with B6444 St Andrew’s Way and A1(M) Junction 59 Interchange, Newton Aycliffe. The closure is necessary to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken which will probably take some 2 nights between (8pm and 6am) days to complete to be carried out to that length of road.

Throughout the period of closure an alternative route will be available to Darlington and the A1M from the northern side of the closure from A167, north westerly, northerly and westerly via B6444 St Andrew’s Way and Heighington Lane then southerly on A6072 and continuing south on A68 to A1(M) Junction 58 Interchange or continuing on A68 to Darlington and the junction with A167 to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa.
