Darlington fans are being encouraged to wear their old shirts and maybe win a prize when the club stages its “Retro Day” against Chester this weekend. The club has had a variety of contemporary fashionable shirts over the years using an imaginative array of colours and designs, and now fans have their chance to dig them out of the attic and wear them for the game against Chester. And there are also some good prizes at stake on Saturday. The club’s photographers will be walking around the ground taking photos of fans wearing old shirts, and three images will be chosen at random to win a 2019-20 season ticket, a home shirt and a table in hospitality for the game of the winner’s choice. Quakers need the points from the game on Saturday, because they dropped a place in the table to 17th, seven points above the relegation zone, when they were beaten 4-2 at Hereford last weekend after being 2-0 up at one stage. Chester are quite familiar to Quakers, the two clubs having played each other over 50 times in the Football League over the years, and since those days, both have suffered turmoil and enforced relegations to a lower level.
