Horndale Residents Asso-ciation held their first AGM on Wednesday 2nd October.Looking back over the last year those who have advised and guided them to fulfil their objectives were thanked.
The Committee members were re-elected to serve another year and were thanked for the work and commitment they have shown in the last 12 months.
The Monthly meeting followed with the unveiling of banners displaying sponsors of the Association, paid for by Akari, owners of Aycliffe Nursing Home. This shows how the Association is working with local businesses to create a better place to live.
Nicola Duffy from housing provider Livin announced the group had been successful in their bid of £5,000  from Livin communities fund towards the M.U.G.A project.
This news means the first year of fundraising ends with a total of £34,650 towards the £40,000 target. The association is overwhelmed by the support they have received.and look forward to the day the new sports facility is up and running.
The Committee are looking forward to the next year working closely with the nursing home  and other groups to bring different age groups together to create a better understanding of each others needs and desires.
The committee are always looking for people to help and support make the Association more effective in making their neighbourhoods even better.
They also seek support from local companies to create a better place to live across the whole of Newton Aycliffe.
