Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group is re-launching with a new location and a special guest to officially open the club. This group is for anyone affected by cancer who could be the patient, carer or relative.
The most important thing is you don’t have to tell others about your cancer if you don’t want to or until you are ready. We’ve had two fantastic day trips and the photo shows some of the group at our trip to South Shields.
The trips help members gain their confidence back as some lose theirs after their hair, eyebrows are lost through treatment. Also it is a very lonely place when getting diagnosed, and some family members or their partners simply just don’t know what to say, avoiding the patient and the subject.
Sometimes the only person that the patient sees is their doctor or nurse then they go back to an empty house where some will be so tired that they don’t even cook themselves a meal.
That is why these trips are vital so we are trying to raise funds continuously. The group now meets at NEVILLE PARADE COMMUNITY CENTRE from 4th SEPTEMBER at 6-7.30pm then the 1st THURSDAY OF EVERY MONTH.
At the re-launch night our guest speaker is from Carers Support. As well as that we have freebies from Clarins Make up. There will be refreshments and nibbles and a raffle. If you would like to help or need some more information ring Allison 0776 2258696  or email allisonwhite75@yahoo.co.uk
