Local dogs and dog lovers are in for a real treat on Sunday 30th June as Dogs Trust Darlington is once again  welcoming the public to yet another fun-filled Open Day in South Park (Parkside) and is appealing for prizes ahead of the event.

Before the festivities get underway  the Rehoming Centre in Sadberge is calling on dog lovers in the surrounding area to donate bottled products, from ketchup to shampoo, to wines and spirits for the ‘Spin and Win a Bottle’ stall. Indeed any items that can be used for prizes will be very gratefully received. The event will run from 12pm – 4pm and is free to attend.

Highlights include a Fun Dog Show where prizes are given for classes with the Waggiest Tail, Best Biscuit Catcher and Handsomest Dog. Other activities on the day include children’s games, a bouncy castle, tea cup ride, face painting, tombolas, refreshments and Dogs Trust merchandise stalls. Sue Embleton, Dogs Trust Darlington Centre Manager, says:

“All money raised on the day will go towards caring for the unwanted and abandoned dogs at our centre. We never put a healthy dog to sleep and dogs stay in our care for as long as is necessary to find their forever home.”

Sue adds,

“The Open Day is a great day out for all the family, whether you have two legs or four. It doesn’t matter whether you own a dog or just like trying your luck with raffles! Make sure you don’t miss out and come and join in the fun!”

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and cares for over 16,000 stray and abandoned dogs each year through its network of 18 Rehoming Centres across the UK.
