On Saturday 12th August the annual Bishop Auckland Railway Station Community Event is taking place from 10am to 4pm. The theme of this year’s event is “Your Community, Your Station”. Community groups invited to this year’s event include Bishop Trains, Stockton & Darlington Railway Youth Team, Weardale Railway Trust, Northumbria Blood Bikes, Durham Constabulary, St John Ambulance, the Royal British Legion and many more. There will be stalls selling handcrafted goods, cakes and clothing; along with ice cream van, bouncy castle and community based stalls.

Activities include vintage bus town tours, a model railway display and information stand by the railway youth team who this year are celebrating their tenth anniversary. This makes the event a great day out for the whole family. Bishop Trains will be showcasing recent improvements at the station, the train service and also Santa’s special train, the “Festive Capital Express”, which this year is running from Bishop Auckland to Edinburgh in November. Those attending the event will be able to enter a prize draw for 2 free tickets. The event will take place from 10am to 4pm
