Vrooom, they’re doing it again! After the success of Raby Castle’s Father’s Day Classic Car Show in June, the team are revving up for another day of high-summer chamois action, with more vintage vehicles in store than ever.

Proving it’s not just for Dad this time, there’s lots on to keep all the family occupied at this haven of history, during the height of the summer holidays. On Sunday, August 12th, the expanded show-ground near Staindrop, Darlington, will host over 500 classic vehicles, polished to perfection and gleaming in the Deer Park next to the Castle.

The packed programme will include displays of classic cars and lovingly-restored commercial vehicles, including motorbikes, classic Land Rovers, vans and vintage tractors. A highlight for the car-enthusiast in the family will be the very special display of over 150 stunning, high-end classics on the Jaguar Drivers Club Stand, plus many other club stands including Aston Martin, Rolls Royce and Sporting Bears plus trade stands and the popular auto-jumble.

However, there’s plenty for the more ‘backseat driver’. With full arena displays and commentary in the deer-park throughout the day, you’ll be ready for a pit-stop at Raby’s new refurbished restaurant and outdoor food-court, serving fresh local produce and afternoon teas.

And for those more ‘war horse’ than ‘horsepower’, there’s plenty of attractions included with show entry, such as the horse-carriage museum, making it perfect for a bit of historical adventuring. Home to Lord Barnard, Raby is one of England’s finest medieval castles, with picture-book towers, battlements and a vivid history spanning over 1,000 years. There’s also glorious walled gardens to discover, plus a lake and enough acres of parkland to tire even the most energetic of youngsters.

Located on the A688, 1 mile north of Staindrop, Darlington, the show runs from 10am-4pm. For just £7.50 per adult and £2.50 for children, admission includes free parking, full access to the park, gardens, restaurant, gift shop and the horse-carriage museum.

Castle admission can be included with your show ticket at £12 for adults and £6 for children.

Well-behaved dogs are also welcome in the showground, so the waggiest member of the family needn’t miss out!

Organiser Mark Woodward says; “The June show at Raby was incredible, and wonderful to see so many families enjoying the photo opportunities to capture some great memories. I can’t wait to return to Raby and see more people in awe of these beautiful cars up close, in such a spectacular setting.”
