Great Aycliffe Town Council are delighted to invite you to join us at this free event on Thursday 2nd June 2022 from 7.00pm – 10.00pm, on the OakLeaf Sports Complex field to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Sit back and enjoy entertainment from Aycliffe and Brancepeth Brass Band, Jenna Highfield will be singing songs from the 50’s and the Shine Choir will be performing.
We also have free fairground rides for the children, they can enjoy a whirl on the carousel, shuggy boats or all the excitement of the teacups.
There will be fun competitions so everyone can take part! The competitions include Best Themed Child (Dressed in Red/White/Blue), Best Decorated Picnic Blanket, Best Adult Hat and Best Child’s Hat. Winners will receive a Platinum Jubilee medal.
You will be able to have your photo taken with Her Majesty (cardboard cut-out). We are encouraging people to bring their own picnic, there will be a refreshment kiosk, however, they won’t be serving food.
The event draws to a close with the Mayor of Great Aycliffe Town Council lighting the beacon at 9:45 pm, this will be accompanied by a piper playing Diu Regnare, a piece of music selected by Her Majesty to be played whilst the beacon is lit.
