Great Aycliffe Community Aid Partnership (GACAP) whose current base is at the Agnew Community Centre held a Public Consultation between 6 and 7 pm on the 22nd April, to display the plans for the extension to the Centre to accommodate a multi use community welfare hub adjacent to the existing centre.
The grounds where the Agnew Centre is located on Morrison Close are owned by Durham County Council and the Agnew Centre which was built in 2008 is a well established facility, well used by the local community.
Local residents present stated that the multi functional extension to the Agnew Centre was a desirable addition to what the centre currently offered. They were happy for the development to go ahead but did express some concern about parking.
Parliamentary candidate Phil Wilson called in to show his interest and support for the project.
The plans for the development at the Agnew Centre would according to Steve Mitton the Vice Chairman be on display in the meeting room until the next meeting of GACAP in about 28 days.
He advised whoever wanted to view the plans should telephone the centre on 321504 to ensure the room wasn’t in use. They should make themselves known to either the Secretary or the Treasurer of the Agnew Centre on arrival and if they wished to make any comment about the plans to fill in the form and hand it to the office to be presented at the next GACAP meeting.
