U13 Hawks v Whitburn & Cleadon
The winner of this game would be confirmed in 2nd place and take the final promotion spot. The boys started a little on the back foot but kept things tight, until Whitburn created a good chance and went 1 up. Aycliffe had defend for a tough 10 minutes of pressure as Elliot, Joe, Ben, Evan, Thomas stood firm.
A couple of changes were made and the lads started to play some good football. On the stroke of half time Dylan cut in side their winger and fired a thunder bolt across the keeper into the top corner, HT 1-1. Second half Aycliffe took control of the game as Dylan hit his 2nd of the game and his 36th goal of the season.
A few chances came and went but we finally added a 3rd when Jack beat his man and sent in a lovely cross for Lee to turn home at the back post. More chances were created and we added a 4th through Jack. This is how the game ended FT 4-1.
A great performance and 2nd spot now confirmed. All players have given there all this season. Martin, Jonathan and Josh would like to thank all parents and especially the players for there commitment this season
U12 girls v Easington Colliery.
Another important game for the under 12 girls as Easington Colliery visited the Oakleaf. A bright start from Aycliffe but 4 times they had a 1v1 with the keeper but all were squandered and as Easington were looking dangerous on their rare breaks , it was a bit nervy. Then a lucky break set us on our way as a corner from Hattie rebounds off a defender for the opener.
That was the lift we needed and shortly after Kate breaks through, and this time smashes into the bottom corner HT 2-0
Into the second half and Easington were coming more into the game but apart from a couple of half chances Aycliffe continued to keep control.
As Easington tired, Kate cuts in from the wing and slots home and with 5 minutes to go a low cross from Hattie misses everyone except Neve for a tap in at the far post FT 4-0, not the most fluent game of the season but the girls grafted for this good result
Under 9 Eagles v Newton Aycliffe Juniors. A great performance against Aycliffe Juniors but despite finding themselves 3-0 down after 5 minutes, the boys all showed great character and kept playing their football.
The Eagles grabbed a goal and quickly took control as they reached the HT break 5-3 up. Further goals followed as every time the Eagles conceded they went straight back up and scored again.. Goalscorers were Will 4, Alex 3, Harry 1 and Jake 1. Great team effort FT 9-6.
Under 10 Girls v Bishop Auckland Pumas.
A trip to sunny Peterlee for our derby game against Bishop. The girls concentrated on maintaining their shape and quickly settled into the game, working hard for each other. As they passed the ball across the pitch, it was only a matter of time before they created the space to score the goals from Heidi and Imogen and with another clean sheet, the points went to Aycliffe FT 2-0.
