Ron Hogg, Durham’s Police and Crime Commissioner, has kick-started his campaign to tackle cyber bullying, with the launch of a logo design competition aimed at secondary school students.
Ron said: “The purpose of this competition is not just to design a logo, but to get young people talking together, and with their teachers, about the dangers of cyber bullying and the effect this can have on victims.
“With more and more reports in the media nationally of young people being targeted over the internet by bullies, it is important that we work together to keep our young people safe.
“This is a great opportunity for pupils to get creative, whilst at the same time, discussing something as serious as cyber bullying in their school environment”.
The winner will receive a Kindle Fire HD and two runners-up will receive a £20 Waterstones giftvoucher. The school which the winning pupil attends will also receive a £250 cheque. The winning logo will be used as the official branding for the Commissioner’s Cyber Bullying campaign.
The competition is open only through secondary schools and entries must be received by Tuesday 22nd October 2013. Schools will be notified directly of how their pupils can enter.
