Durham Police Authority is inviting members of the public to its third Police and Crime Commissioner Stakeholder Event on Tuesday 25th September 2012.

The event is free to attend and starts at 9am until 12.30pm and will take place at the Dolphin Centre in Darlington. The Police Authority is currently implementing a transition programme in County Durham and Darlington to help enable a seamless handover of governance to the incoming Police and Crime Commissioner. The purpose of the event is to help raise awareness of the changes that are ahead.

Please note places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. If any member of the public is interested in attending please contact the Police Authority on telephone 0191 383 5511 or email durham.pa@durham.gov.uk to book a place by Friday 14th September.

New Police and Crime Commissioners will be elected by the public, replacing Police Authorities, on 15th November 2012. They will hold the Police budget and will have the responsibility to address the concerns raised by local people within the force area.
