Two masked robbers who tied up a shop worker at a Spennymoor jewellers are being sought by police.

The robbery took place at B&H Jewellers on the High Street at around 4.45pm-5pm yesterday (January 25).

Two men punched a shop worker in the face and head before tying the victim up in a back room.

The offenders stole a large amount of jewellery and cash. A spokesperson from South Durham CID said: “This was clearly a distressing incident. The offenders made off on foot but it is unclear whether they then got into a car after fleeing from the shop.

“Extensive enquiries are being made. Anyone with information should get in touch.”
