On Friday 6th December “Slam It!” the performance poetry project organised by Greenfield Arts for pupils at Chilton Primary School and Greenfield Community College returned for its second year. The project saw Year 8 from Greenfield and Year 6 from Chilton spending time in English lessons practicing their performance poetry skills, which led to the finale “Slam” event where the students performed to a panel of judges and their peers. The finale event was compered by performance poet Kate Fox.
Last year the two schools were joined by Kate, who is an experienced and well known performance poet, throughout the project, providing support to staff to help the pupils develop literacy and performance skills and confidence. This year the staff at Greenfield and Chilton have been using their knowledge to enthuse the pupils ready for the event on 6th December.
Congratulations to all of the students and staff who took part, the quality of the performers and their writing, and the behaviour of all those in the audience helped make this year’s event such a great success!
