Pre 1948 our healthcare was dire

With many poor families left in the mire

Post ’48 it was time for a change

Free healthcare for all came into range

With a rush on false teeth and spectacles too

It was soon apparent the NHS worked for you

We learned at the sound of siren to just clear the road

Make way for the ambulance with a patient to offload

No monies passed hands, your healthcare was free

We’ve forgotten pre ’48 there were no doctors for me

Our buildings now old, our resources all on a squeeze

Your donations are needed so do help us please

With a state of the art MRI here just for you

We need to invest but we’ll need your help too

It’s our 70th Birthday so please give us a cheer

Our blessed NHS – it’s precious, please help keep us here!
