On Sunday 12th September The Castle Games held a free kids and teens individual CrossFit event alongside their same sex pairs event. Three of CrossFit All Out’s younger members stepped out of their comfort zones and decided to participate in this event at the very last minute. It was their first CrossFit competition and they had a superb day from start to finish.
Aiden Anderson, aged 9, finished in second place, landing himself a spot on the podium in the U12 category.
His brother Ashton Anderson, aged 12, also bagged a podium spot finishing in 2nd place in the U15 category.
Proud parents of the two boys and owners of CrossFit All Out in Newton Aycliffe, Vikki and Terry Anderson, said “the boys were basically the guinea pigs for our other CrossFit Kids, to ensure the event was well run and safely organised. They both fully embraced the challenge and all their years of practice in the gym paid off on the competition floor. We are very excited to have a number of CFAO kids entered into the November competition held at Middlesbrough and then to host our own in-house kids competition next year. It brings a whole new dynamic to the sport of fitness”.
Eva Keeligan, aged 8, finished in 10th position, despite being the youngest competitor on the day in the U12 category. Mum, and member at CrossFit All Out, Gemma said, “little Eva competed in her first ever CrossFit competition at CrossFit Darlington on Sunday. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! Eva put her heart and soul into every workout and even more into cheering on her fellow competitors (even those she did not know). She was a bundle of excitement and enthusiasm all day and this could be seen by her 100% effort and beaming smile. I’m so very proud of how she took it all in her stride and showed true CrossFit grit and contributed to its community spirit.”
