The rain didn’t dampen any spirits at PCP’s summer Family Fun Day last Saturday. Over 500 people turned out the Pioneering Care Centre to enjoy what was on offer in Aycliffe’s healthy living centre, as part of the Great Aycliffe Festival. The soft play and bouncy castle were moved indoors, as were the produce from PCP’s community garden that people could buy. Children decorated biscuits, made key rings and were entertained by Punch and Judy, Paw Patrol characters
and Bobby the Bull who came along with Newton Aycliffe Police beat team.

Brave visitors petted the snakes and spiders and people could make their own healthy snacks of fruit kebabs and smoothies.  The Coffee Shop was busy throughout the event serving tasty, healthy snacks, light meals, sweet treats and refreshments. The outside ice cream van also had a good day despite the weather. PCP delivers a full range of interesting activities to help people get fit, learn a new skill, discover a new hobby or improve their confidence and self-esteem. The event was a good opportunity to welcome people to the Centre and showcase what activities and services PCP have on offer to benefit the whole community.
