Dear Sir,
1st-7th June marks the 30th anniversary of Volunteers Week and on behalf of everyone at the Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) I would like to say a huge thank you to all our volunteers.
We like to recognise PCP volunteers at every opportunity, whether that’s nominating them for a local, national or regional award, celebrating their anniversary for years of service or simply offering them a free cuppa in or Mall Coffee Shop to say ‘thanks’.
National Volunteer’s Week is a great way to highlight all the good work volunteers do in our communities. As part of this year’s celebrations PCP invited people along to an event at the Pioneering Care Centre on Thursday 5th June to recognise the invaluable contribution that volunteers make in helping PCP achieve its mission, to improve health, wellbeing and learning for all.
Attendees found out what volunteering and training opportunities are available and information on the different services and projects to get involved with. They also got to chat to existing volunteers about the positive effect volunteering has had on their lives.
Volunteering is an excellent way for people to get involved in their local community. It provides people with an opportunity to make new friends, whilst learning new skills to help them get into further training, education or employment.
PCP currently has 89 active volunteers and from April 2013 to March 2014 they provided PCP with over 7,900 hours of their time helping to support the smooth running of the Centre and of the projects based at external locations.
PCP wouldn’t exist without the support of volunteers and we are keen to support any individuals who would like to give a little of their time to make a big difference.
Thank you,
Carol Gaskarth
PCP Chief Executive
