A recent project led by the Soroptimist International of Darlington and District group has drawn attention to ways of recognising the signs of acceptable behaviour in a relationship and negative actions.
The ‘Loves Me, Loves Me Not’ list was created and printed on bookmarks and posters which were distributed to schools, doctors and dental surgeries, colleges and public buildings around Darlington. The bookmarks and posters were designed to appeal to both male and female victims of domestic violence and more than 13,000 bookmarks have been handed out.
Funding for the project came from a request made by the late Betty Herman, a long-serving member of the club, and was given from the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner, Ron Hogg and the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Network (DASAN).
Mr Hogg said:
“The soroptimisits have identified a way of educating both men and women on the signs of potentially abusive relationships, it is a fantastic piece of work and I was happy to show my support by funding the project. Well done to all involved”
