Dear Sir,
I find it very disappointing that the Labour group at Durham County Hall voted to cut teaching assistants wages. Can our seven Labour County Councillors tell us which way they participated and did they vote to rob these people of their wages?
In Aycliffe we have a lot of hard working Assistants, in our schools who work very hard to support and look after children. I am sure teachers will agree their Class Assistants do a very good job.
Shame on the Labour Group and I trust their actions will be recalled when voting at election time comes around again as voters expect to be supported and not go along the Labour Party line.
Some of these assistants travel to work and cannot claim travel expenses unlike our County Councillors who receive good travel expenses on top of their allowance for attending meetings.
Mrs Maud Gray,
Former Teaching Assistant.
