Last week saw me meeting with the North East CBI on Wednesday before on Thursday I had the highlight of my week. I met with a group of young ambassadors from primary schools near Ferryhill. We met at Dean Bank Junior School where I was able to take questions from the children before looking in the old school registers and finding the entries from when I was a pupil there. I also offered to visit each of the schools individually for a longer session with more pupils. To see their curiosity and engagement was an absolute delight.

I have started to engage with some APPG’s in Westminster, these are All Party Political Groups and are informal cross-party groups that have no official status within Parliament. They are run by and for Members of the Commons and Lords, though many choose to involve individuals and organisations from outside Parliament in their administration and activities and they are a means of drawing attention to a subject and potentially making recommendations to Government. So far I have joined APPG’s for Industrial Heritage, Coalfield Communities and Dignity in Dying. The range of subjects is incredible with substantially more APPG’s than Members of Parliament reflecting the many agendas people are interested in.

Enjoy your week.
