Dear Sir,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the voters of Aycliffe West and Simpasture Wards for electing me as your Councillor. I feel privileged that you have the confidence in me to represent you on Durham County Council and Great Aycliffe Town Council.
I would also like to thank Julie, my family, friends and community groups for the overwhelming support given to me over the past months and weeks of the election campaign, it is truly appreciated. And finally, the help and hard work of all Labour Party members who have made this a memorable and overwhelming victory for Labour in the Town and County elections, not a bad result for ‘virtually unknowns’.
This result shows that by speaking to people on the door step and listening to their views had an impact in securing your confidence in Labour, demonstrating that we listen, understand and work for you to improve our Town for the common good. It is now up to me and my fellow Labour Councillors to show you we can deliver on our commitment to work with and support all the residents of Great Aycliffe Parish.
I look forward to the challenge; it will not be easy particularly under these austere times through massive funding cuts being inflicted on our local councils by this Coalition Government. But with your help we will endeavour to protect and improve our community services as best we can.
