The October Holidays will launch Greenfield’s season of creative writing and illustration events with a fabulous activity day on Saturday 28th October 10am – 2pm, including activities for both adults and young people to learn and explore together.

Activities include the ever popular ‘Family Cooking’, work with Jan Hodgson to develop recipes to keep the whole family happy and healthy, then produce your own meals as a family to take home and enjoy. We will also be hosting story making activities including book making with Dawn Belshaw and creative writing with Alison Curry. We are working in connection with The Big Draw 2017, which is focussing on #LivingLines2017. We want to see how imaginative you can be in making your pencil marks move and your work could even go towards the Big Draw Awards 2017. We will have plenty more opportunities on offer to keep you entertained throughout the day. Details of all activities can be found on our website where you can also book your place. Activities are suitable for any age, children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

We also welcome the Into Film Festival, which takes place from 8-24 November across the UK. The Into Film Festival is the world’s largest free film and education event for young people presenting 3,000 free cinema screenings, and showcasing over 140 films at more than 600 venues across the UK.

The festival aims to help educators bring learning to life for 5-19 year olds by inspiring young people to watch and understand film in new and creative ways. Greenfield Arts will therefore be offering public screenings on Thursday 16th November and Tuesday 21st November. This is a brilliant opportunity for lovers of film and story, at any age, to see the much loved short stories by Roald Dahl in ‘Revolting Rhymes’, a mischievous double-bill which presents fairy tales in a way you’ve never seen before, or ‘Their Finest’ which depicts the story of a young woman during WWII, who discovers she has an inspiring way with words when she is taken on as a scriptwriter for propaganda films.

Bookings are currently live on the Into Film website, where you can also search for Festival events throughout the North East: https://www.intofilm.org/events/festival.
