Dear Sir,

I read with interest the letter from Vince Crosby regarding our previous MP, Phil Wilson. Let’s get it right, the reason he was not re-elected was he could not be relied on to keep his word.

He at first said he would back his constituents who wanted to leave the EU, but after being advised by our ex MP and PM the UN official ambassador for the EU to change his mind as he thought it was no good for is.

He asked, through the Newton News, if anyone wanted to contact him on his new idea to please do so. I actually emailed him as many others did, but sadly received no reply, even a second letter was unsuccessful.

After this he turned into the invisible MP, apart from a few letters in the Newton News. The Labour group held a day canvassing for him around the Tesco area, one group did not know who he was, but were just there to talk about unions getting more power. After then talking to a gentleman about Mr Wilson he then told me that he was not here, but at Whitby having fish and chips – so much for meeting his constituents.

With regard to Brexit, the complacent Labour party do not want to see us become a sovereign country again as they would rather, if they were in power, let the EU take control of our governance to make it easy for them. We now are near the date we leave and due to the hard stance Boris and the government have taken, the EU’s stance of trying to blackmail us is failing and now they are coming to realise it’s not working, eg: now the fishermen in France are telling Macron to back down as some fish is better than none, business experts in France, Germany and Netherlands tell us they stand to lose billions of pounds with a no deal.

The people that backed the Tories in the areas where the dictating complacent Labour were in, did the right thing, as we will see in our future. As to handling the pandemic, the Tories have done a good job to keep peoples lives as best as they can, especially with the false information they where given in the first place.

The leader of the Labour Party, Mr Starmer, has no leadership qualities at all, he listens to things, agrees, then three weeks later says it was the wrong decision and sits on the fence. If this is his way of running the party, thank God they are not in power now.

Don’t take any notice of the negative views, but look to a positive future with the present government. The future of the Labour party in the north east, as it is now, could well be on the demise.
