The Mayor Councillor Val Raw was delighted and honoured to accept the Normandy Veterans Standard on behalf of Great Aycliffe Town Council and said that it would always be a treasured part of the regalia in the Town Council offices. The Association is disbanding due to dwindling membership through bereavement and it was a truly emotional occasion. The honour was bestowed on Great Aycliffe having given the Association good support during its existence.
