In response to the letter in last week’s edition of Newton News, re: noise. The noise in question is horrendous, we live on the Oakfield estate, near to the factories of Ineos and the other chemical factory, about a third of a mile from me, called Lucite, it also has a loud noise. On Thursdays both these factories set off test alarms to ensure they are working, the Ineos alarm sounds at 10.45am for about four minutes with a fading phase; the Lucite alarm sounds at 11.00am, but, it also blows off at intermittent times without warning, even at night! I would like to know why, wouldn’t you?
DCC should have the answer to this, it is an horrendous hissing sound and as we live very close to these factories we can hear it.
