Dear Editor,
Companies like Hitachi continue to warn us about the impact of leaving the EU for a reason. They came to the UK as a gateway to the EU, and for us to leave the EU is to seriously risk their future investment in our town.
In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if companies are already planning to withdraw certain operations should we vote to leave the EU.
Less investment by these companies means less jobs. Less jobs, means less money for the average family. It is estimated that if we vote leave the average family will be over £4000 worse off, because of the damage it will do to our economy.
It is ok for those running the leave campaign, millionaires who whatever the impact of Brexit, won’t be affected. What is a couple of hundred pound a month to them? They can still go skiing St. Moritz come November.
But to the rest of us, losing that money is a big deal. That is why I believe it is essential we remain part of the EU. Furthermore I don’t trust Boris and IDS protecting workers’ rights, so please don’t believe what they say.
