We are pleased to update readers on the Easter Shoebox Appeal, after the hugely successful collection sent down to Surrey ready to travel on the final stage over to Romania.

The donations arrived in Romania a few weeks before Easter and were all sorted ready to distribute. Many boxes of shoes, socks and Easter eggs, along with food and clothing items were given out to children on HIV & Cancer wards in the hospitals and orphanages.

And, as you can see from the photos, hundreds of shoes, eggs and other items were taken to central points in rural villages where children, along with their parents or carers, came along to try on shoes and get some treats and essential items.

Easter in Romania was a week after it was here so the whole week was spent distributing your donations to those who needed them. The children, families, rescuers, Sarah-Jane Jackman and Paws2Rescue can’t thank the Newton Aycliffe donors enough for everything they have done in helping achieve this. The difference you made is huge!
