A la Mémoire is a Luxury Handmade Gift Store that places the customer at the heart of its business. Founded by two sisters from Newton Aycliffe, A la mémoire was created to introduce to the public the creation of bespoke personalised items for every occasion.

Claire once delivered Newton News and Leanne once worked in our offices, and it was working here that inspired her career as a Graphic Designer.

With Claire’s passion for creating beautiful handmade gifts and Leanne’s background in design, their combined  talents are the perfect balance for achieving the visions for a wide range of individual tastes.

Situated at 6 Clark’s Yard in Darlington town centre, the gift shop is perfectly placed off the busy high street. The small cobbled yard reflects a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for the selective gifts they have on offer.

From handmade crafts, to beautifully designed wedding stationery and greeting cards, A la Mémoire aims to inspire their customers’ dreams to produce perfect unique creations. Alongside their bespoke designs, A la Mémoire also offers a range of gifts on sale, as well as their own gift wrap, tags and the perfect finishing touches for every occasion.

The beautifully designed wedding stationery is one of the most unique aspects of A la Mémoire, which allows customers to create their dream wedding invitations by personally choosing the size, format, style, colour and wording options etc.

The sisters have invited other local talent to display their creations in the shop, in order to offer a wide range of items that appeal to all tastes.

Jewellery is on display by Sue Simms, Artwork by Suzanne Pearson and Chris Carr, all from Aycliffe, along with other handmade crafts such as personalised wooden gifts and paper cut-outs. The shop will also be the base for Leap Studio, where Leanne will continue producing her design and website creations.
