The Annual Middridge Village Fête will be held on the Village Green on Saturday, 4th July, starting at 1.30 pm, by kind permission of Middridge Parish Council. The Fête is organised by the Middridge Village Association, a registered Charity, which maintains and operates the Middridge Village Hall as a Community Centre for use by Middridge Residents, and Organisations from the surrounding area, as well as being available for hire for Private Parties; all Fête proceeds go to the Middridge Village Association.
The Fête will be opened by Linda Purdie, Human Resources Manager of Husqvarna, Aycliffe, who regularly contribute an Electric Mower for the Raffle, held during the Fête. The Raffle First Prize is £75 worth of Shopping Vouchers donated by the Middridge Village Association, and there is also £40 worth of Shopping Vouchers donated by Middridge Parish Council, as well as a host of other Prizes. The Raffle is supported by Barclay’s Bank, who have generously agreed to match all Raffle Ticket Sales Income with a Donation to the Middridge Village Association. The Fête has also been supported by a Donation from our County Councillors, Joan Grey, Mike Dixon and John Clare.
There will be the usual wide range of Stalls (Tombola, Cakes, Bric-a-brac, Toys, Books & DVDS, Bottles, Plants, and Find-a-Fiver), a Children’s Bouncy Slide, and the regular Dog Show. Any Items for the Fête should be delivered to Mrs Lourine Beadle at 8, North Side.
Music will be provided by the Brancepeth & Aycliffe Brass Band. It is hoped that there will also be a Demonstration of Fighting Techniques provided by a local Re-enactment Group.
Food and Drinks are available at the Bay Horse Pub, which is directly opposite where the Fête is to be held; Patrons may use the Pub Car-park. Additional Car-parking is available at the Village Hall. Note that the Police do NOT permit Parking on the Main Road through Middridge whilst the Fête is being held.
St John Ambulance Volunteers will be present to provide First Aid if required.
A Barbecue will be held on the Village Green at 6.00 pm after the Fête, weather permitting, which all are welcome to attend. Barbecue facilities, Tables and Chairs are provided, but those wishing to attend should bring their own food.
Further details regarding the Fête, and other activities of the Middridge Village Association, Middridge Parish Council, and other Village Organisations, may be found on the Village Website (www.middridge.org.uk).
