Two former students of Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, have been selected for the GB Olympic Water Polo Team.
Angie Winstanley-Smith from Newton Aycliffe was at the College from 2001-2002; taking A levels in History, Maths and PE. Fran Clayton studied at QE from 2005-2007, gaining A levels in Maths, PE and Physics.
Julia Atkinson-Tait, Head of PE at QE says: ‘Everyone at College is absolutely thrilled for Fran and Angie. During their time at QE they were exemplary students and superb, dedicated athletes who combined their academic studies with their rigorous training regimes.
They played water polo  whilst  studying A levels and also represented the College at swimming championships”.
We will all now be watching the Olympics with added interest wishing the GB team and Angie every success.
