Woodham Academy has appointed a Media and Marketing Office to fulfil a new role within the school.
The ambitious school recognise that media and marketing is an important aspect in any organisation and that a school is no different.
Deputy Headteacher, Danny Morgans said: ‘We want to showcase what we have to offer at Woodham; the fantastic facilities and quality of teaching are just some of those things. We understand that we are in a digital age and everything is moving online. We want to keep up with that demand and go above the expectations of our students and parents.’
Interviews for the position took place at the end of last year and Newtonian, Gemma Porter, began her role in December.  Previously Events Organiser at livin, Gemma has maintained a community focussed role since graduating from Newcastle Business School with a Marketing degree in 2011, and is keen to continue to build partnerships within the town.
Gemma also sits on the board of the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership, helping to designate funding for a variety of projects and activities taking place.
Speaking of her new role, Gemma said: ‘I’ve grown up in Newton Aycliffe, I have an invested interest in the town not only from the school’s perspective but also as a resident.
‘Woodham Academy has great vision and ambition and it is an exciting role for the school. I’m looking forward to working on some new initiatives and events as well as introducing fresh communication channels for parents and students.
‘If you’re a local business or stakeholder and would like to work with the school on a new project or idea, we’d love to hear from you. We’re also on Facebook (@WoodhamAcademy) so please take a look at our page for news and events taking place at school.’
