Thanks in part to Newton News, Newton Aycliffe Karate Club has seen its members double over the last few months. We now have over 20 active members and half of them are children from the local area, who have recently joined after their parents had read some of the stories published recently in this paper. One of the aims of our karate club is to encourage children to take part in a positive activity that promotes health, respect and teaches them how to keep themselves safe. We also encourage parents to have a go to, which has led to new adult members for the club also, giving a real welcoming family atmosphere in a club that has been in Aycliffe for over 40 years. If anyone wants to come and either have a taster session for free or just come and see what we do then call Sensei Andy Bailey on 07999 501379 or email naanshinryu@gmail.com. We train Tuesdays 7pm to 8.30pm and Thursday 6.30pm to 7.30pm at Neville Parade Community Centre.
